ABOUT ME |
A human right activist
As an Indian-Venezuelan woman studying International Relations, I have always been driven to fight for human rights specifically women's rights and equality. I have always believed that an individual can make significant contributions to the world. Personally, I want to leave the world a better place than when I was first brought into it.
My focus has been on studying International Relations with a minor in Political Science and certificates in Human Rights and Political Transitions, Latin America and Caribbean Studies, European and Eurasian Studies, and Peace Corp Pre at Florida International University. I aspire to work in the United Nations and be a UN ambassador. If I can help others find their voice, they will be inspired to do the same, and like a chain reaction, the world will be a better place. My dream is to become a foreign service office with the U.S Department of State.
A defining moment in my life came at an early age; when I was just about 12 years old, I was taken to a foreign land in Ajmer, Rajasthan, India. As a little girl, I could see and understand the oppression that the women in the town were forced to live day in and day out, and I knew deep in my heart that this was completely and utterly wrong. Some of the most basic rights that we take for granted include free expression, the ability to receive an education, and sharing a table with the men in their lives. Having known what true freedom feels like, I have made it my mission and goal in life to one day be able to give women across the true world freedom and the opportunity to break free from the shackles of oppression
